Dear Applicant:
Thank you for your interest in the Women's NETWORK. The NETWORK is an active group of over 100 dynamic business professionals who work and/or reside in Southeastern Connecticut. Please read the following information carefully to see if the NETWORK will meet your needs and interests.
Membership in the NETWORK is open to women and men who are currently employed or have a significant history of employment in the business and/or professional world. The purpose of the NETWORK, as stated in our bylaws, is “to provide its members with the opportunity to meet other business and professional people in our community, to communicate and exchange general and career information, to promote personal visibility, and to develop a constituency for the purpose of examining and speaking out on issues of concern to the membership.” The NETWORK is a member of the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce, The Greater Norwich Area Chamber of Commerce, the Old Saybrook Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT.
The NETWORK is involved in many activities including endowment of scholarships at area colleges; various donations to Safe Futures and other community organizations; of a monthly newsletter, an annual membership directory, a robust Facebook and social media presence and a website. www.sectwomensnetwork.org
If you are interested and feel you meet the membership criteria, the membership process is as follows:
1. Applicants are encouraged to attend at least one monthly luncheon before applying, to see the NETWORK in action. Luncheons are held on the third Wednesday of every month from 11:30 am to 1:15 pm at Langley’s Restaurant, Great Neck Country Club, Waterford. There is networking time before a buffet lunch and generally, there is a speaker or program on a topic relevant to the membership. To make a reservation, please go to our website, click on the luncheon tab and follow the link. Register by 9:00 am on the Monday preceding the luncheon to lock in the $25 price. The price is $30 for walk-ins. ADVANCED REGISTRATION IS ENCOURAGED.
2. If you want to join, fill out the enclosed application and enclose a check for $125 payable to SECT Women’s Network and mail to the address below. Applications will be presented to the Board of Directors at the next monthly meeting which is the Friday before the luncheon date.
3. When accepted, applicants will be notified by email.
4. The applicant can then be introduced to the membership at the next luncheon. Be prepared with your 30-second “elevator pitch”.
5. Once accepted into membership, the membership fee is not refundable.
